Hello, my friend,
Welcome back to The Diabetic Toolbox, where we are on a mission to end type 2 diabetes, one family at a time.
Today is Day 4 of our Emotional Eating & Diabetes 14-Day Course, and we’re talking about something so essential, yet often overlooked:
Creating Healthy Boundaries ✨
Taking care of your health requires strong boundaries. I learned this the hard way.
I’ve always been a morning workout person, and with my workday starting at 8 a.m., getting my workout in at 5 a.m. became non-negotiable. I explained this to my children, but they had other plans. 😅
They kept calling late, well past my 9 p.m. bedtime. At first, I tried to ignore the calls, but I’m a mom. That didn’t work.
Eventually, I had to put my foot down and say:
“If you want Mommy to stay healthy and be here for a long time, it’s important I get my rest so I can work out. Please call before 8.”
It wasn’t easy, but it made a difference.
Good boundaries:
- Help your holistic healing habits take root. 🌱
- Make healthy routines feel less stressful.
- Give you control over your time and schedule.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
✅ It’s okay to say no
✅ It’s okay to change your mind
✅ It’s okay to put your needs first
Diabetes is a manageable disease when you have the right tools, and that includes boundaries.
🛠️ Try This:
- Set a consistent bedtime and protect it like gold.
- Communicate your needs clearly with loved ones.
- Say no to activities that drain you without guilt.
You are allowed to protect your peace.
