How Mindfulness Can Help You Stop Emotional Eating and Regain Control

Hello friend,

Welcome back to The Diabetic Toolbox, where we are on a mission to end type 2 diabetes one family at a time.

Today is Day 3 of our Emotional Eating & Diabetes 14-Day Email Course, and we’re diving into a powerful, life-changing practice:

Day 3: Building Mindfulness πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ’

Let me be honest with you, mindfulness was not easy for me.

At first, I didn’t believe it could work.
Eating with intention felt awkward.
Slowing down felt unnatural.
And as someone who grazed all day to manage stress and emotions, mindfulness seemed utterly out of reach.

But I kept showing up. And slowly, it began to work.

Mindfulness helped me to:

  • I paused before I reached for food out of stress or boredom.
  • Recognize the difference between emotional and physical hunger.
  • Build a more loving, respectful relationship with food and my body.

And friend, it can do the same for you.

Start small. Try just one meal or snack today where you:

  • Sit down.
  • Put away distractions.
  • Take a few breaths.
  • Eat slowly, with intention.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, just present.
