Whether you’re a seasoned mom, a brand-new mom, a bonus mom, or a mother figure holding someone’s world together, we thank you today.
The world is crazy, and the notion of rest feels like a radical act. I recently decided to take a quiet day, with no phone calls or errands, just journaling and thinking. My children were convinced something had happened to me because I didn’t answer their calls. But honestly, I just needed space to reflect, breathe, and dream a little about the life I want to build moving forward.
When you’ve been diagnosed with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, there’s often this low hum of pressure in the background, you should be doing more. More steps. More workouts. More managing. Have I eaten enough protein? Am I balancing my macros and micros? Wait, what even are those again?
But today, I want to offer you something else:
Permission to rest.
Take a break.
Take a breath.
Admire how far you’ve come.
Let yourself be.
As a coach, I’ve walked alongside many women who find it nearly impossible to turn off their to-do lists. And I get it. When your health is at risk, it feels like you can’t stop. You think, if I pause, won’t everything fall apart?
I’ve run on that hamster wheel myself. And I burned out physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I pushed people away. I lost parts of myself in the pursuit of doing it all.
I don’t want that for you.
Today, let’s choose a different path. A gentler one. Take this day to reflect. Ask yourself one question: What am I grateful for? Then sit with your answer. Let it comfort you.
Instead of beating yourself up for everything left undone, remind yourself of what you’ve already done, every small win, every act of courage, every step forward.
You are enough, just as you are, in this moment.
