Gentle Yoga for Stress and Skin Relief with Diabetes
Hello everyone, and welcome to The Diabetic Toolbox, where we are on a mission to end type 2 diabetes one family at a time.
If you’ve been feeling stressed or if your skin has been dehydrated, inflamed, or irritated, today’s yoga sequence is just what your body needs. Chronic stress can raise blood sugar levels and impact your skin, making it more prone to breakouts, rashes, or dryness. That’s why this week’s gentle yoga flow focuses on calm, circulation, and care.
This short and supportive practice includes four beginner-friendly poses, a simple breathing exercise, and a calming affirmation to help you feel grounded, loved, and nourished—inside and out.
The Sequence
1. Breathing: Box Breathing (2–3 minutes)
Helps calm your nervous system and ease inflammation.
Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. Repeat.
2. Cat-Cow Stretch (1–2 minutes)
Improves circulation, boosts spinal mobility, and supports detox.
3. Seated Forward Fold (2–3 minutes)
Relaxes the body, aids digestion, and encourages stillness.
4. Half Butterfly Pose (2 minutes per side)
Opens the hips and stimulates the lymphatic system to support skin health.
5. Legs Up the Wall (3–5 minutes)
This gentle inversion improves blood flow, calms the body, and relieves tired legs.
Affirmation
“I treat my body with kindness, and my skin with love.”
Repeat this mantra during your final resting pose or as a daily reminder to prioritize self-care.
