How to Create Your Health Vision for Fall

Listen to Episode 34 of The Diabetic Toolbox Podcast: How to Create Your Health Vision for Fall

Happy Fall! Can you believe it is September already? It seems like we just said hello to 2023. If you have yet to reach your wellness goals or have decided to wait until next year to start again, let me tell you that fall is an exciting time to think about what you can accomplish before the end of this year.

At the end of 2023, wouldn’t it be wonderful to look back over the last four months and say, “Great job- I’m really proud of myself!”

What would you like to accomplish by the end of the year? Your goals do not have to just be about your health; accomplishing a family, relationship, finance, or career goal could
be just what you need to ignite your health goal. Because once you change any
area of your life, it affects every area.

So, I want you to find a quiet place with your favorite beverage and play music that allows your brain to dream, and on a piece of paper, write down your top 1-5 goals that you would like to accomplish this year. Then, choose one goal; this will help you to
focus your energy so that it can become a reality.  Create a three-step plan that will help you to make it happen.

For instance, if you want to walk 20 minutes daily, you might list:

     1. Going to bed at 11 p.m.- get up at 5 a.m.

2. Go to the gym or walk outside.

3. Pack or lay out workout clothes the night before.

Take a few minutes to think about how amazing you will feel as you accomplish this goal. Allow yourself to be proud, happy, grateful, amazed, and fulfilled. Congratulate yourself; I for one, do not think we celebrate the small steps we take towards our accomplishments enough.

It's not over until I win (2)

Now comes the utterly fantastic part of this activity: you will write yourself a letter and date it for Dec. 31, 2023. Do not worry; no one will read it except you. In the letter, you
will congratulate yourself on accomplishing each of your accomplishments.

Explain in the letter exactly why you are proud of yourself for each one and provide details that accomplishing these goals has improved the quality of your life.

Put your letter somewhere you can read daily to remind yourself what each accomplishment means to you. There is still time to accomplish your biggest goals; let us do it together. If you would like some help refining your goal or need an accountability
partner, join The Diabetic Toolbox Facebook group; we would be happy to help

Love,
